Boulder RoME 2014

Matjaz presented the paper, written together with Vojko Strahovnik, on Cognitivist Expressivism as Revolutionary Proposal, at the Rocky Mountains Ethics conference. Inspiring discussion following the paper was followed by several encounters, somewhere around error theory and consequentialism. Matjaz now thinks that scalar consequentialism (Norcross) is right in promoting a unique value as illuminating encountered thick moral concepts entangled situations. It was nice to meet several friends. Some photos from the conference are on this Alastair link:

By the way, this message was composed in The Cup, Pearl Street, Boulder, a nice environment.

Just learned about the demise of David Armstrong, an Australian philosopher:

I have met him on several occasions, and had some discussions with him. He was at a Bled conference that I co-organized. Armstrong was a friend of U.T. Place, Australian identity theory originator from Leeds and a friend of mine.

Rudolf Haller

I took part at the Haller conference in Arizona and spent some time there with various people, among them Sylvan. I delivered a lecture in Graz where Haller told me that my externalist minded ecologist approach is rather Berkley like. Haller came to Ljubljana and delivered lectures there as I invited him. I met him on several other occasions at Graz (Meinong conference is one example) and at Kirchberg symposia. Chisholm, Lehrer and many others came to Ljubljana through Haller's assistance. Professors Gombocz and Haller supported Slovene-Austrian international conferences with Davidson and others. Some years ago I felt an urge to visit Haller in Vienna and talk with him, which then unfortunately did not happen. Today I learned about the demise of Rudolf Haller whom I thought about as my friend.
